There is so much to do around Wilmington this 4th of July.

Have you made your plans for the upcoming holiday weekend? Looking for some suggestions? Well here are a few of the events going on in the area:

After the barbecue, what is the one thing most associated with the 4th of July celebration? Fireworks! There are several close by venues to thrill and amaze you.

Saturday July 3rd, Carolina Beach celebrates the Fourth of July with a fireworks display on the beach near the Boardwalk. Bring a chair or a blanket and your cooler, sit back and enjoy the show starting at 9pm in front of the Boardwalk. The show is free. Don’t forget to see the Thursday fireworks display also, July 1st. Sunday July 4th, come downtown to watch the 14th annual Battleship Blast, one of the largest choreographed displays in the state. The show begins at 9:05pm. Come early to get a good spot. Monday July 5th, as part of the Southport and Oak Island Chamber of Commerce annual Fourth Of July Festival, at 9pm the nighttime sky will light up with fireworks. If you are looking for some good music, there are several concert series performing this holiday weekend.

On Friday July 2nd you can choose from the Mayfaire Music on the Town Concert Series, The Airlie Gardens Concert Series and the Downtown Sundown Concert Series.

At Mayfaire you can listen to The Cosmic Groove Lizards playing original rock from 6pm – 9pm on the Mayfaire Event Field behind Ulta and World Market. Bring a blanket or chairs and don’t forget your picnic basket. Mayfaire Concert Series

Come Downtown to Riverfront Park to hear Girlz, Girlz, Girlz an 80’s Hair/Metal Tribute Band.  The music begins at 6pm. Call 910-763-7349 or visit: Downtown Sundown

On Saturday July 3rd, Carolina Beach Boardwalk Blast presents Soul Power Posse playing funk and R&B at the Gazebo starting at 6:30pm. Don’t forget the regular Thursday night concert on July 1st, featuring Bibis Ellison and the Spare Change Band playing some of your favorite rock and pop at the Gazebo starting at 6:30pm followed by fireworks.  Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce

Even though it is a holiday weekend there are still plenty of regularly scheduled activities still taking place:

Movies at the Lake on Sunday presents “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”.  Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce

Riverfront Farmer’s Market. Choose from some of the best produce, cheeses, meats, crafts and more. On Water Street from 8am – 1pm.

Carolina Beach Farmer’s Market.  Find fresh produce, plants, home canners, bakery items and more. At the Carolina Beach Lake Park, Saturday from 8am – 1pm.

The Cape Fear Museum always has something to see. Now through September 5th you can enjoy the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame Exhibit. Come see the historic photographs and sports memorabilia. Cape Fear Museum
